May, 2014
The word "cleave" is defined as: to stick fast to, adhere strongly to (a particular pursuit or belief) become very strongly involved with or emotionally attached to (someone) and to split or sever (something), especially along a natural line or grain, make a way through (something) forcefully, as if by splitting it apart.
"Cleave" is an experimental motion graphics piece that centers around the theme of transformation. The transformation of nature by its surroundings. The familiar being transformed, becoming suddenly overwhelming and unrecognizable. The feeling of no longer recognizing your environment or yourself. Starting a journey attached to your familiar and coming out the other side, severing ties with what you once thought to be true.
This piece was shot using a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 L Macro and a Canon EOS 5D Mark III
